JATRA BIROTI
Jatra Biroti, Road No. 17/A, Dhaka, Bangladesh, Dhaka, Bangladesh
Join us for an intimate evening celebrating the timeless spirit of Lalon Shah and the rich traditions of Bengali folk music.
Baul practitioner, instrument maker, and founder of Anandanagar Folk Band, Saif Rahman Asif brings a deeply personal interpretation of Lalon's songs and other beloved folk traditions. His work extends beyond performance—he handcrafts sarode, dotara, sarangi, and his own original instruments, making music both his art and his craft.
Sharing the stage is Videl, an American sarode player who has devoted more than a decade to the study of Hindustani classical music. Through the expressive voice of the sarode, Videl and Asif create a heartfelt musical dialogue where Bengali folk traditions meet classical expression across cultures.
The evening will begin with a special opening performance by the wonderfully talented Faiza Fairooz Rimjhim.
Whether you are a long-time admirer of Baul music or discovering these traditions for the first time, this gathering promises an unforgettable evening of music, storytelling, and cultural connection.
